
UPIK Holds Discussions with CNOOC Enertech Uganda on Oil and Gas Training Collaboration
The Uganda Petroleum Institute Kigumba (UPIK) today, 25th February 2026, held high-level discussions with representatives from CNOOC Enertech Uganda to explore potential collaboration in oil and gas training and workforce development.
The meeting focused on strengthening industry–academia partnerships aimed at enhancing practical training, aligning academic programs with current industry demands, and preparing a competent workforce to support Uganda’s growing energy sector.
Discussions highlighted key areas of mutual interest, including curriculum development, industrial training placements, technical capacity building, knowledge exchange, and opportunities for joint initiatives that promote skills development within the oil and gas value chain.
UPIK reaffirmed its commitment to producing highly skilled and industry-ready graduates by continuously engaging key players in the petroleum sector. The potential collaboration with CNOOC Enertech Uganda is expected to further strengthen practical learning opportunities and ensure that graduates meet international standards and operational requirements.
As Uganda advances toward full-scale oil and gas production, strategic partnerships between training institutions and industry stakeholders remain critical in building sustainable local capacity and fostering national development.
Further engagements will be conducted to define specific areas of collaboration and formalize the partnership framework.
