Operator Training for TILENGA Project – TOTAL Energies

UPIK in collaboration with TOTAL Energies Uganda is set to carry out Training and Competency Assessment of technician grade personnel for the Tilenga project.

The technical grade personnel that that will be trained include

  • Production Operators (CPF + Wellpad)
  • Mechanical Maintenance technician
  • Electrical Maintenance technician
  • Instrument Maintenance technician
  • Inspection technician
  • Laboratory technician

The launch of this programme was on 10th January 2022 beginning with a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC).

The Tilenga MOOC launched by TotalEnergies EP Uganda is aimed at identifying potential recruits that will join the TotalEnergies EP Uganda training programme and be mobilized in order to participate in the development of the Tilenga project in Uganda. The MOOC is open from 10 January 2022 to 21 March 2022.

Young Ugandans between the ages of 18 and 28 can register for the Tilenga MOOC until 31 January 2022.

Government of Uganda Scholarships

In addition to the Albertine Region Bursary Scheme. The Government of Uganda has subsidized training of another 200 students by 80% of all training costs. Commencement of this programme was disrupted by the second COVID-19 lockdown but has resumed following the reopening of Learning Institutions.

Government of Uganda Albertine Region Bursary Scheme

On 25th January 2021, UPIK commences training of 690 beneficiaries under the Albertine Region Project. UPIK won a contract to train 690 of the 1,090 beneficiaries from the 15 Albertine districts. The learners have undertaken training in various trades including Mechanical, Electrical Maintenance, Welding, Health Safety & Environment, Rigging, Scaffolding, etc. at Foundation, level 1 and level 2 certification.

Skill Development Facility (SDF)

The Institute has also successfully trained and certified 50 3G coded welders with support from the Private Sector Foundation of Uganda (PSFU) under the Skills Development Facility.

Training for CNOOC Uganda Limited

The Institute has successfully trained 30 3G Coded Welders for CNOOC in partnership with Sunmaker. Training for another 30 6G coded welders for CNOOC is underway.

Training 3G Coded Welders for TOTAL Energies Uganda

UPIK in Partnership with Solid Rock jointly won a bid to train 50 coded welders for TOTAL Energies Uganda. 25 of these learners have been successfully trained and certified at the Institute.
